MARIPOSA HAT

After writing my last blog post, something dawned on me again.

That "MARIPOSA HAT" is not just a fashion accessory.

Before I knew it, I was reaching for it almost every day. And before I knew it, it was at the center of my style.
Now, I even coordinate my outfits around my MARIPOSA HAT.

The reason might be extremely simple.

It's a Western hat that combines functionality and style.

I think I'm largely drawn to the fact that it inherits the techniques and styles of yesteryear, which are now becoming scarce, to create a single hat.

The designer, Akira-san, has experience as a vintage hat dealer in the US, and then trained at a bespoke hat maker that crafted hats for many famous shops.

He acquired solid techniques and a passion and philosophy for Western hats from local artisans.

Many of the hat blocks, materials, and even the machinery used in production are sourced from the US and then used to produce the hats in Japan.

MARIPOSA HAT brings the authentic Western hat making methods and atmosphere of that era, and every piece is born from his own hands.

There are no off-the-shelf MARIPOSA HATs.

Hat block, crown shape, brim width, ribbon, size.

Everything is meticulously adjusted, working closely with the wearer to find the perfect fit and complete the hat together.

The hats, which reconstruct the Western hat product with sizes and silhouettes that suit Japanese people, embody the good old American style and atmosphere while naturally blending in with one's clothes and the city.

That's why I want to wear it freely every day.

MSG&SONS, ARCH ORIGINAL LABEL, and special order items are also planned to be available.

For MARIPOSA HAT, there will be an order event where you can choose the hat block, color, material, and have it made to your size.
In addition, Akira-san will be releasing his secret collection of "vintage hats" that he collected while living in America.

During the event, MARIPOSA HAT's Akira-san and Yonemuraya's Ote will also be present at the Kyoto store.
